"But the greatest among you shall be your servant."
Serving Our Neighbors and Community:
Obviously, the most important way the Avon Grove Church serves our community is through living out our faith everywhere we go - at home, work, school, and in relationships throughout the community. However, we also serve through several programs, such as -
The Bridge Compassionate Ministry Center: serves our neighbors in need by providing food, clothing, household goods, furniture, referrals, and encouragement. Open every Tuesday evening, we serve 30-50 families a week and 500 different families from throughout the Avon Grove School District each year. While housed in our church and under our leadership, The Bridge is a combined effort of several area churches, community organizations, and individuals.
Opportunities are available to sort clothes and prepare food boxes (Tuesday mornings 9am-12 noon); handing out food and clothing, directing crafts and games for kids, providing homework help, preparing snacks, and providing security and administrative assistance.
Avon Grove Nazarene Academy provides outstanding preschool, kindergarten, and after-school programs. In addition, the summer day camp program offers an outstanding selection of activities when school is not in session.
The Garage Youth Center is a joint effort of the Avon Grove churches, community organizations, and individuals to serve our area teens. Located in downtown West Grove at 122 Rose Hill Avenue near the West Grove library, volunteers are needed for tutoring, mentoring, and special events.
AGNT- Avon Grove Teens reaches beyond our church to touch the lives of teens in our community. Under the leadership of youth pastor Jason McGehean and a dedicated staff, we are helping teens develop spiritually and socially as they learn to follow Christ and encourage one another.
Serving Within the Church:
In addition to the opportunities above, there are many ways folks can serve within the church, such as -
Greeters and Ushers serve to welcome people as they enter the church for worship and other events, as well as make their experience a positive one by providing information, encouragement, and a friendly environment.
Tech Crew members serve by providing sound and video technology for all of the worship service and special events. Teens as well as adults are welcome to serve here.
Worship Arts- Artists, musicians, singers and actors can use their gifts to worship God and lead others. Whether displaying art in the art gallery, or serving as part of the praise team, or by presenting a truth through drama, we invite folks to use their talent to honor God. Audition required.
Nursery Workers are needed to take care of some of our most special people - the infants and toddlers who attend Avon Grove.
Children's Ministry - In Childrens ministry, opportunities for service by gifted, committed and trained adults are available during Sunday School, Children's Church, and Caravan Christian Scouting.
Youth Ministry - Passionate, committed, and spiritually-strong adults are invited to participate in an exciting youth ministry program. Sunday mornings, Wednesday evenings, and special events workers, chaperones, and support staff are needed.
Facilities Team - People with knowledge and skill at maintenance and custodial work serve by taking care of these essential tasks for the building and grounds of the church.
Caring Team - Organizing meals for shut-ins, the sick, new parents, and others is an important task of the church, and this serving opportunity is an essential part of loving and caring for each other.
